Our Northeast Indiana Farm to School Team is working with local farmers, teachers, child nutrition professionals and school partners across our region to implement our Harvest of the Month program of taste tests, tower gardens and farm videos. October is National Farm to School Month! Our Northeast Indiana Farm to School Team is working closely with local farmers and school district partners across our region to share our Harvest of the Month taste tests and farm videos to thousands of school kids in Northeast Indiana each month.

The 2022 Local Food Throwdown is SOLD OUT! We are grateful to all out participating chefs and mixologists who are preparing special dishes and drinks made with locally sourced ingredients, to all the guests excited to attend, and to all the generous silent auction items donors who are offering unique local foods & beverages, and special culinary experiences in our Local Food Throwdown Silent Auction. EVERYONE, not just Throwdown guests, can bid in the Silent Auction and registration is free.

The 2022 Local Food Forum & Expo to be held on Monday, September 2022 has been postponed due to low registration. Our goal is to reschedule the event during the first quarter of 2023. We hope to share the new date soon, so you can mark your calendar to attend.

The event will feature talent from: Ambrosia Orchard, Bravas, Chance Bar, Copper Spoon, GK Baked Goods, Junk Ditch Brewing Co., Mercado, One Ten Craft Meatery, Penny Drip and True Kimchi. Proceeds benefit the Northeast Indiana Local Food Network.

Our Farm to School Programs connect kids with new foods and local farms. Together, our Northeast Indiana Farm to School Team introduces thousands of local kids to new fruits and vegetables, and to the local farmers who grow them through our Harvest of the Month program.

The Northeast Indiana Local Food Network is honored to be a partner in the new Indiana Regional Food System Partnership that was awarded a $1.24 million dollar grant to strengthen Indiana’s food supply chain.

As this year draws to a close, and our young nonprofit organization prepares to begin 2022, our fifth year, we want to take stock of how far we’ve come as an organization and as a local food community. We want to share our anticipation for the valuable work we plan to undertake in 2022 and pursue the years to come.

Local Food Week expanded in 2021 with 22 different farm tours and special events held across our region. From September 17-26, urban & rural farms and local food businesses hosted over 500 participants for a variety of events to connect our community to local food from our land to our tables.
